Internet Checkup turns small, real HTTPS checks into a simple 0–4 bar indicator of how usable your current internet connection is. This page explains the results, the optional download speed test, and the status bar antenna.
Designed for iPhone with iOS 26 or later
The comfort bars update automatically. The download speed test starts only when you tap its button.
Results describe the internet connection your iPhone is using at that moment, such as Wi-Fi or cellular.
Using the app
Three simple controls
Internet Checkup separates ongoing connection-quality checks from the larger, user-started download speed test.
Read the comfort bars
Wait briefly while the app checks the current route. The 0–4 bars and the message below them update as the connection changes.
Run a speed test when needed
Tap Start Internet Speed Test to measure download throughput from the internet to this iPhone. You can stop and restart the test.
Show Internet Antenna
Choose 5, 15, or 30 minutes, then start the antenna display. While the app is open it appears near the status area; after you leave, iOS may show the related Live Activity.
The app does not change or replace the iPhone's own signal indicator.
The iPhone's cellular and Wi-Fi icons describe radio signal conditions. Internet Checkup describes the usability of the internet connection by making small HTTPS requests.
Reading results
What the bars mean
The bars summarize reachability, response, recent stability, and the ability to transfer a small amount of data. They are designed as a practical indication, not a guarantee that every website, game, call, or streaming service will behave the same way.
The separate Mbps result measures download throughput from an internet test server to the iPhone at that moment. It is not the Wi-Fi link speed between the iPhone and the router, and it is not your internet plan's guaranteed maximum.

Why are the app's bars different from the iPhone's signal bars?
The iPhone's cellular and Wi-Fi icons describe radio signal conditions. Internet Checkup uses small HTTPS checks to describe how usable the current internet connection is. The two indicators measure different things and may not match.
What does the speed test measure?
The user-started speed test measures download throughput from an internet test server to this iPhone at that moment. It is not the Wi-Fi link speed between the iPhone and the router, and it is not a guarantee of the maximum speed of an internet plan.
Why is the antenna not visible in Dynamic Island?
Confirm that Live Activities are enabled for Internet Checkup. iOS controls whether, where, and for how long a Live Activity appears, especially when other Live Activities are active. The app cannot reserve or permanently occupy Dynamic Island.
How do I stop the antenna display?
Open Internet Checkup and tap End Internet Antenna in the status bar. The app asks iOS to end the related Live Activity, and the display may take a moment to disappear.
The app says it cannot check the connection. What should I do?
- Confirm that Airplane Mode is off and that another app can reach the internet.
- If you are on public Wi-Fi, open Safari and complete any required sign-in page.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular, then return to Internet Checkup.
- If only the speed test fails, wait a moment and tap Test Again.
How do I enable Live Activities?
Open iPhone Settings, select Apps, select Internet Checkup, and turn on Live Activities. Dynamic Island is available only on supported iPhone models. A compact Live Activity may also appear on the Lock Screen as required by iOS.
Privacy at a glance
Designed without accounts or tracking
Internet Checkup does not require an account and does not include an advertising SDK. Running a connection check or speed test sends HTTPS requests to internet measurement providers because network traffic is required to perform the measurement.
