Privacy Policy

Privacy, clearly explained.

Internet Checkup is designed to measure connection quality without requiring an account, collecting personal information for Ichitap, or using advertising and analytics SDKs.

The short version

Ichitap does not receive or retain personal data from the app's connection measurements. Some operational state remains on the iPhone, and internet measurement requests necessarily reach independent destination servers.

  • No account, registration, or sign-in
  • No location, contacts, photos, or Wi-Fi network name access
  • No advertising, analytics, or tracking SDK
  • Preferences and recent measurement state stay on the device
  • Support email is optional and initiated by the user

1. Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to the Internet Checkup iPhone app. The app is provided by Ichitap ("Ichitap," "we," "us," or "our"). It explains what the app does and does not collect, what remains on the device, what is sent to internet measurement endpoints, and how optional support communications are handled.

This policy does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, an internet service provider, a mobile carrier, a Wi-Fi operator, or an independent measurement endpoint operator.

2. Data the app does not collect for Ichitap

Internet Checkup does not require or provide an account. The app does not send the following categories of data to Ichitap:

  • Name, postal address, email address, telephone number, or other account information
  • Precise or approximate location
  • Contacts, calendars, photos, videos, audio recordings, health data, or financial information
  • The name of the connected Wi-Fi network (SSID) or saved Wi-Fi credentials
  • Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or cross-app tracking identifiers
  • Browsing history, search history, or content from other apps

The app does not include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, attribution, or behavioral-tracking SDKs. Consistent with the App Store disclosure, Ichitap does not collect data from the app.

3. Internet measurement requests

The app's core function requires it to send HTTPS requests over the internet. These requests are used to check whether the current route is reachable, measure response and transfer timing, download small test payloads, and run a larger download speed test only when the user starts it.

The current app configuration sends measurement requests to endpoints operated by Cloudflare and OVHcloud. As with any internet request, the destination operator can receive standard connection and request metadata, which may include:

  • The public IP address used for the connection
  • Date, time, requested URL, requested byte count or byte range, and response status
  • Technical HTTP and TLS information and a User-Agent identifying the app
  • For a user-started speed test, a newly generated random cache-busting value and stream number

The random cache-busting value is created for an individual test to prevent cached responses. It is not an account ID, advertising ID, or persistent device identifier, and the app does not reuse it across speed tests.

Why this is consistent with “Data Not Collected”

Ichitap does not receive endpoint logs, build user profiles from these requests, or use the request metadata for analytics, advertising, or tracking. The destination operators independently determine how they process standard network metadata under their own privacy policies.

Cloudflare

Used for small connectivity checks and the user-started download speed test.

OVHcloud

Used as an independent destination for small connectivity checks.

4. Data stored on the device

The app stores a limited amount of operational state in its local iOS app container so that it can restore the interface and an unfinished antenna session. This may include:

  • Whether onboarding has been completed and the selected display language
  • The most recent quality level, message, measurement time, network route type (such as Wi-Fi or cellular), confidence, stale state, and internal status reason
  • A random Live Activity session ID and its start, planned end, actual end, status, and latest quality state

This local state is not transmitted to Ichitap. The speed test result is displayed in the app but is not stored as an account history or uploaded to an Ichitap server. iOS may also manage Live Activity state and device backups under the user's Apple settings and Apple's policies.

5. Optional support communications

If a user chooses to email support, Ichitap receives the email address, message, and any information or attachments the user voluntarily includes. This information is not collected automatically by the app.

Support information is used to respond, investigate the reported issue, prevent abuse, and maintain necessary business records. Users should remove personal information from screenshots before attaching them.

6. Tracking, advertising, and sale of data

Internet Checkup does not use data for targeted advertising, advertising measurement, cross-app tracking, or data brokerage. Ichitap does not sell or rent personal data collected through the app because the app does not collect personal data for Ichitap.

7. Retention, deletion, and user choices

  • App measurement data: Ichitap has no server-side account or measurement history to retain or delete.
  • On-device state: Users can stop an active speed test or antenna session in the app. Deleting the app removes its local app container from the iPhone; device backups are managed through the user's Apple settings.
  • Endpoint metadata: Cloudflare and OVHcloud control their own retention and deletion practices under the policies linked above.
  • Support email: Ichitap retains support communications only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, resolve issues, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. A user may request deletion by emailing support, subject to records that must be retained by law.

8. Security

Measurement requests use HTTPS. The app uses ephemeral network sessions without an app-managed cookie store or response cache for these measurements. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, but the app limits the information it handles and does not operate an Ichitap account or measurement-history server.

9. Children's privacy

Internet Checkup is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not provide accounts, social features, advertising, or behavioral tracking. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information through a support email, they may contact Ichitap to request deletion.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's functionality, measurement endpoints, data practices, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected in the policy before or when the relevant app change is released.

11. Contact

For questions about this Privacy Policy, privacy choices, or deletion of information voluntarily sent to support, contact Ichitap.
